About Me

Pulak Ghosh is Professor in the Decision Sciences and Center of Public Policy at IIMB. He was IIMB Chair Professor of Excellence. His key area of specializations are in the intersections of Big data, Machine learning, Artificial Intelligence and its applications in Economics, Finance, Policy and Social Value Creation.

Prof Ghosh was member of the editorial boards of several top journals including the Journal of the American statistical Association, Journal of the Royal statistical Society (A) and Biometrics.

Prof Ghosh received multiple academic awards for his contributions to the profession. He received multiple best paper awards in top international conferences. He was conferred the "Young Scientist Award” in 2011 by the International Indian Statistical Association for his outstanding and innovative contribution to research. He was the recipient of the prestigious CR Rao award in 2015 by the Govt of India. He received the prestigious Mahalanobis Award in 2016 for his outstanding contributions in econometrics conferred by the Indian Econometric Society.

Prior to joining IIMB, he was a faculty at Georgia State University, Emory University. He also had a short stint at the Novartis Pharmaceuticals as Director of Clinically advanced Statistical Solutions.

Prof. Ghosh did his schooling from Ballygunge Govt. high School, Calcutta; BSC in Statistics from Ashutosh College (Under University of Calcutta) and MSC in Statistics from University of Calcutta. He received his PhD in Statistics from Oakland University, MI, USA.
